Have-A-Go Coaching Clinic - 2002/2003
The Club once again ran the Have-A-Go program for the next generation of our junior cricketers - the 5 to 8 year olds. The numbers were about the usual with 45 children attending. The schools visited by Cricket NSW Development Officers on behalf of the Club were OLOR and Northmead Primary Schools. This season we moved the program from Ted Horwood 3 to Charles Mclaughlin Reserve. This was done for a number of reasons, ease of traffic access, closeness of amenities, better storage facilities for equipment and the additional funds generated through the canteen.
There was no shortage of parents willing to assist which really helped in making the program such a success. This is borne out by the fact that only one boy failed to finish the 12 weeks. I feel confident that there will be a good intake into the junior ranks next season from Have-A-Go.
After being involved with Have-A-Go for something like 8 seasons, I have decided to take a break and the Club is looking for a volunteer to take over from me. I wish my successor all the best in this most enjoyable program.
The winner of the Encouragement Award for this season is Joshua Stevenson, to whom I offer my congratulations. The attendees were:
