Junior Secretary's Report - 2005/2006
This was my first year officially in the role of Junior Secretary for the Baulkham Hills Cricket Club (BHCC). It has been a pleasure working with our junior coaches, managers, players and the hard-working and dedicated members of our club's Committee. This season we had 15 junior teams with three teams in Under 10 and 11 age groups, two teams in each of Under 12, 13, 14, 15 and one in Under 16. Having three teams in the Under 10s and Under 11s shows the continuing success of Have-A-Go Cricket in bringing young players to our club.
This season 5 teams, Under 15/1, 14/1, 14/3, 12/2 and 11/1, reached the semi finals series with all five teams proceeding to the finals. Unfortunately the success of the semi finals did not carry through to the finals with only two teams taking out the premiership, the 14/3s for the first time and the 14/1s continuing their successful run over the last 4 seasons.
The level of talented cricketers in our club was highlighted by the large number of players selected to represent Parramatta in the NSW Districts Cricket competition. A big thanks to the officials from our club who have given their time to coach and manage representative teams for the PDCA. The officials and players selected are as follows:
| Green Shield | Tom Gurka, Max Pobihuszka, Matt Scholz (Parramatta) |
| Watson Shield | Matt Scholz and Jeff Warland (Coach) |
| Weblin Shield | Tom Gurka, Luke McNaught, Alex Mihalyka, Hari Raja and Jacob Astill |
| Brett McNaught (Coach) and Joe Gurka (Manager) | |
| Moore Shield | Luke Dempsey, Sean Abbott and Brendan Temple-Smith |
| Gee Shield | Daniel Chatman, Nicholas Bertus, Gabriel Joseph, Ben Abbott, |
| Ian Chatman (Manager) and Nigel Bertus (Coach) | |
| Cawsey Shield | Jackson Dwyer and Brett McLean (Coach) |
| Creak Shield | Blake Newman, Mitchell Webb and Joel Pienmunne |
| Emerging Blues U14 | Nick Bertus |
This is a very impressive list of cricketers - watch for their names in the future. Achievements like these can only be reached with a high standard of coaching and parent participation. The BHCC supports its coaches, managers and parents by providing level 1 coaching courses and participation in umpire courses.
