Doug McKinnon
(Awarded Life Membership 1987)
Doug joined the club in the 1969/70 season when he and his wife, Patricia, purchased a house at Castle Hill.
Doug has played cricket for the club in grades ranging from A Reserve to B6. He has had success on and off the field during his 25 years with the club. He has:
- been active in coaching and managing junior teams;
- assisted with the Coaching Clinic;
- won the Captains Achievement Award in 1977/78 and 1982/83;
- played in 3 premiership winning teams;
- been awarded Clubman of the Year in 1982/83;
- been on several committees.
Some of the positions he has held include grading senior and junior teams for many years and publicity officer for 4 years.
Doug, as a player, captain and club member won the respect and friendship of all local cricketers and officials. He was involved with selling of debentures to raise funds to start the Sporting Club. He is a "cricket gentleman" in every way. His demeanour on and off the field gain him the respect of all.
Doug's wife, Patricia, has also been a tower of strength in club affairs including several years on the Ladies Auxiliary.
